A Message from CEO Robert Hunter

Innovative companies and the farmers that grow our Canadian crops are the backbone of what we advocate for at Protein Industries Canada. By working together along the value chain we are bringing more value back to Canada through new technologies and products, while working to build markets and opportunities for our made-in-Canada approach.

I’ve spent my career getting to know our trade partners and competitors, and we can be proud of the fact that Canada is a world leader in supplying safe, high-quality food. I believe now is the time to move the needle one step further and continue to build our capacity and capability to be a leader in value-added food production. The farmers, feed suppliers, ingredient manufacturers and food processors, will all help to get us there.

As I start my introduction to the Protein Industries Canada network, I’ll be raising the flag for Canadian agriculture and value-added food production. This is an important time to reinforce Canada’s presence as a strong and competitive market, that is open for business, and that customers can rely on. I am also looking forward to meeting our member companies and project partners to discuss how we can work together to create a plan to make Canada the world leader in value-added agriculture.

I would like to thank Frank Hart for his work as interim CEO and the time he and the entire Protein Industries Canada team have spent with me in my first few weeks. I am looking forward to the work ahead, and to meeting more of you in person.
