Goal
This project looked at various locations in Eastern Canada for a potential commercial processing facility, comparing socio-economic factors, available/accessible resources, supply chain, distribution centers and financial implications of each.
Project Summary
The project examined the technical feasibility and costs associated with manufacturing a “Made-in Canada” high-value soymilk powdered beverage and marketing the final product to consumers in Japan and North America.
Results and Impact
- Over the next 5 years, DJHendrick International Inc. (DJHII) expects to put further investment into this endeavor with international investment from a Japanese soymilk company, creating first a pilot-scale facility and then a commercial-scale production facility.
- DJHII has gained the competitive advantage of securing market intelligence and technical specifications for the process to produce high-quality dry soymilk powder for Japanese markets.
- This project helped ECODA in providing improved opportunities for members to diversify markets for soy products being grown in the region.
- ProSoya will supply all processing equipment for both pilot and commercial scale operations as well as construct the processing lines.
